I would try to fill you in on all the stuff that has happened in the last 17 days, but why? My New York trip is the only thing worth talking about!
On the 17th I arrived in New York and made my way to Julia at the Edison Hotel. The hotel was traditional NYC, small! LOL, but who cares it was just meant for sleeping anyhow.
Julia and I ended up at a surf bar where we drank and we ate and we drank and we ate come more! I was schwasted after my 3 different drinks. LOL I don't mix well :-)
Walking back to the Edison Julia hear music and in we went! It didn't take us long to figure out we were in a Gay Bar, my first in NYC....little did we know the night was just about to begin!
We met some great people at the 9th Ave Saloon. Harold and Freddie and our new amazing friend Stephanie. We hung out at the bar till it closed and then went to the NYC underground activity of an after hours bar! LOL I think there were more people in the "closed" bar than 9th Ave!
We hung out there and met John and Brad who we ended up hanging out with us and Stephanie the rest of the morning. We had breakfast, somewhere, and after Stephanie made a mad dash to her car, because the street sweeper was parked behind her, we walked back to our hotel. LOL Brad & I ventured over to Times Square and I got to take some pics, of him trying to sleep because by this time is was well after 7a closer to 8a! Needless to say by the time we parted ways with everyone and FINALLY hit the sack is was about 830 or 9a! Not a bad way to spend the first night in NYC!
A few hours later we were up and getting ready to switch hotels when all the power went out. Apparently all that banging we hoped we were dreaming the last few hours was them doing something outside out room. They were nice enough to the power back on so that we could get dress and check out.
I took my first subway ride down to Wall Street where we were staying at the Andaz. I loved everything about the hotel! It was amazing! LOL I wish I could afford it on a normal basis :-)
After checking in we headed off to see Lady Liberty on the Staten Island Ferry. Can I just say she is most likely the most amazing site I have ever seen! As an American its just in my blood to want to see her. I failed the 2 trips before, but this time I went right by her and it took everything I had in me not to cry. Amazing that a statue can bring up such emotion, but WOW she is spectacular! The only thing about NYC that has left me more speechless was Ground Zero. I'm pretty much at a lose for anything else to say.
We had pizza in Staten Island and head back across on the ferry to the city.
We headed back to Time Square where we caught up with my most favorite Matt in the world...the amazing Matt Beck! We caught him in between Spiderman shows where he was having lunch. Its always great to be able to spend any time with Matt, its because of him I have some amazing friends in the industry. So we talked while he ate and then walked back over to Foxwoods where we took some tradional venue shots....lol although I never went in the venue, but hey I was there!
Julia headed back to the hotel while I went to catch up with Jenny & Viv at Joe's pub....LOL we ended up meeting at Starbucks and missed the show. However the lovely ladies went to dinner with Julia and me at Wall & Water over at the hotel. Amazing food and wine I have to say! Everything tasted remarkable! If your in NYC go try them out, get the cheese fondue! I thought we were all going to die from how good it was!
LOL the rest of the night was a lot of driving! We went to a pasrt by central park, where one of Viv's friends was, tried to go to another one where Jenny's friend was, but we could not find any parking. So we headed to the Village Underground where Prince (yes the artist) was hanging out after his show. We got to see him from afar, which was pretty cool. Julia got a pic of him, but hey we got to see him!
We went back to the hotel where Julia finally got some sleep and I enjoyed the amazing shower and tried to repack my luggage, that I had so overpacked!
The next morning I overslept and almost missed skating in the park. OK thats a lie I did miss the 1030 agreed upon time, but it was because of the stupid subway. Who knew it turned express on Sundays! It took me 4 trains to get close and I ended up walking from 53/5 to 59/6 because quite simply it was easier and I was tired of riding the damn trains!
Finally we all arrived and paid out $25 bucks to skate in Central Park. The first lap was rough! However we ran (almost literally) into a guy who told us how to skate...you just wiggle! Sounds funny, but damn it, it worked! by lap 2 we were off the wall and skating, slowly! However it was painful as hell, so we had some hot coco and we were done....$25 for about 35 mins....LOL, but hey we did it!
Julia took us over to a great little place for lunch, cause Serendipity said the wait was 4 1/2 hours! After lunch we walked down to Rockefeller and completed the 2nd of my NYC Missions! I saw the tree!!! Lit up in all its glory, there it was. We also did Top of The Rock, which has now convinced me that I was born to be a New Yorker! That was the most amazing view I have seen! I saw the entire city, all of Central Park, yup I was born to live there!
We made our way back to the hotel to pick up our luggage and then took the subway to the air tran and as quick as that the trip was over.
Las Vegas looks so different now! No matter how much I love it here, its not New York...I dont really want to be here anymore. I am committed for at least 6 more months, so we will see. One day soon though I will be blogging about my life and times in NYC....count on it!
